The HeliOS Project is Taking a Time Out

The HeliOS Project is the new name for our charity effort...we are restructuring our business strategy to encompass more than we previously did. The name "Komputers4Kids" is officially retired.

Thanks to a well-known computer manufacturer, we were able to place the 5 computers with those who were waiting for them. As noted in a previous blog, our vehicle was broken into and several computers with other equipment was stolen. While those needs were graciously met, we are still unable to deliver any further machines until the vehicle is repaired.

We owe a great deal of thanks to those who have donated to this need but we are still about 900 dollars short of getting it fixed. Please bear with us while we work through this issue. Those who are on a waiting list have been personally notified of the situation and will be notified again when we are once able to resume our project.

Thanks for understanding.

I'm sorry, I donated what I could even though it would be my preference (and yours too in all likelihood) that it go to something else.

please don't misunderstand...this is not a request for donations...we will get by as we get by. By no means am I asking anyone to donate here...this is simply a place where I announce what is going on. I appreciate what you have done and would never expect any more. I sincerely thank you...and everyone who has helped us out.

I apologize if this appears to be more than simply an announcement.

Helios,

My father-in-law runs a towing service here in Tampa, Fl. He has a close relationship with one particular salvage yard and is able to get parts really cheap.

Maybe you know someone local who runs a small, family owned towing service who could hook you up.

Just an idea.

Bob's got an idea, not sure if "he"'s "your Uncle" though.

AND/OR: What about local TV showing the damage and promoting your cause?

(In the West End of my town, you would sit in vehicle all night with loaded shotguns-with a permit of course...)

Ken,

This has been a friggin' nightmare. I can't get anyone to pay attention locally. No one was shot, had sex with a teacher or made inflammatory statements about a political candidate from the pulpit here so his is pretty much ignored.

damn shame
